Off Campus Housing Referral

Options...is the key word in dealing with the housing situation in Omaha. Most UNO students can find contentment with at least one of the many choices offered to them by local real estate developers or neighborhood home owners.

Rooms...are probably the least expensive way to go; a sleeping room is usually located in one of the UNO neighborhood homes and may include board in a package deal. Rooms also have the advantage of moving the student directly into the life of the community and the family with whom he/she stays.

Apartments...can be found in small refurbished houses to large complexes. Depending on how much he or she can afford to pay, a student may have the luxuries of swimming pools, saunas, gyms, and clubhouses for parties. Townhouses are large-scale apartments with private ground level entrances, often found in the larger apartment complexes. They may include basements and garages although the cost is higher.

Houses...are available for rent or for sale for those who want all the comforts of home. One of the options selected by many students is to find a group of students and rent a house together.

Roommates...one of the most important parts of any living arrangement is your companions. Since all students are not housed on campus, roommates are your own choice. However, the Housing Referral Office offers a "roommates wanted" listing.

Domestic/Work Exchange...is just what it sounds like, the tenant performs work for the landlord in exchange for a place to live (sometimes room and board may be supplemented by pay). The actual jobs range from babysitting to yard work to apartment manager.
